Knoxville Catholic Tabs Korey Mobbs as Head Football Coach of the Fighting Irish

Coach Mobbs brings sixteen years of coaching experience at the high school level. Mobbs helped launch the football program at Lanier High School, a new Gwinnet County Public School, in 2010, ultimately leading them to two GHSA Region Championships, three Sweet Sixteen appearances, the State Semi-Finals and six consecutive Playoff appearances as Head Coach beginning in 2014. 

He boasts over 70 college signees in the short history at Lanier (8 seasons of Varsity football) and three All-Americans in 2015, 2019, 2020 – Derrick Brown #7 Overall Draft Pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2020 NFL Draft, Zach Calzada (Texas A & M) and Phillip Webb (LSU).

Coach Mobbs was the Region 8-AAAAA Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2015, GACA All-Star Coach in 2017 and 2019 and represented Lanier High School at the Under Armour All American Game in 2019 and 2020.

Our student-athletes are fortunate to have him as their head coach,” said Dickie Sompayrac, President of Knoxville Catholic High School.

Coach Mobbs will meet with his players Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Faris Fieldhouse and then participate in an official press conference at 3:30 p.m. in the Knoxville Catholic gymnasium.
